Aklan to showcase products for Ati-atihan

KALIBO, Aklan, Jan 8 (PIA6) -- This year’s Kalibo Ati-atihan Product Showcase will be displaying an array of newly-developed Ati-atihan souvenir items and trendy abaca, pina and raffia gift items and wearables as it opens next week at the Kalibo Pastrana Park.

The product showcase is a yearly promotional event held in Kalibo every 3rd week of January and one of the main features of the Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-atihan Festival.

The product showcase intends to promote locally-made and unique products of Aklan, thus increasing market prospects for the province’ Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Aklan Provincial Director Diosdado P. Cadena Jr. said the Product Showcase will be opening January 14 and is a joint project of the DTI, Hugod Aklanon Producers Association, Inc. and the Municipal Government of Kalibo through the Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-atihan Foundation, Inc.

Aklan's famous agri-aqua processed foods and pasalubong items will also be sold during the showcase.

The Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-atihan Festival is held every 3rd week of January. This year, the week-long celebration will be from January 14 to 20, 2013, with major features held mostly in the last 3 days through non-stop street dancing, novena masses, paeapak, snakedancing at the Kalibo Magsaysay Park, Pilgrims’ Mass at the Kalibo Pastrana Park and procession.
