KALIBO, Aklan, April 20 (PIA) -- The Aklan Pina and Fiber Festival that showcases the province' premium indigenous products is now on its 14th year - and like its first launching - it will be one of the major highlights of the Aklan Day celebration this year, held every April 25.
With venue at the Trade Hall, Provincial Capitol Grounds, the trade show, according to Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Aklan Provincial Director Diosdado Cadena Jr., will run for one week from April 22-30 at 9am to 8pm daily.
Director Cadena said this year's trade show will be joined by some 33 exhibitors from various sectors: indigenous fibers and crafts, gifts, housewares and furnishings, food processing and health and wellness.
"New concepts and designs will be launched in this year's exhibit, giving a new twist to existing products," Cadena said.
He added that focus will be given to local products, which fall under the priority sectors - indigenous fibers, gifts, housewares, furniture and furnishing and agri-aqua-based processed foods.
In time for the trade fair, other events will also be held to further add color to the festival and the Aklan Day celebration, which include Accessories Fashion Show on April 24, Investment Conference cum Market Encounter on April 30 which will be graced by DTI Secretary Gregory Domingo; Abaca Crafts and Weaving Skills Demonstration from April 22-30 and Special Products Exhibition (Abaca and Bamboo Products on April 22-30.
The Investment Conference will be held at the Governor Corazon L. Cabagnot Tourism and Training Center.
The Pina and Fiber Festival is headed by DTI-Aklan in cooperation with Hugod Aklanon Producers Association, Inc., Aklan Pina and Other Indigenous Fibers Manufacturers and Traders Association, Inc., Provincial Government of Aklan, Congressional District Office, Fiber Industry Development Authority and Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc.
