Bacolod City lands spot in most child-friendly tilt

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, April 25 (PIA6) -- Bacolod City was a national finalist of the Presidential Award for the Most Child-Friendly City in the Philippines competition, a statement from the city said.

Bacolod City Councilor Em Ang received the award from executive director Brenda Vigo of the Council for the Welfare of Children and Undersecretary Austere Panadero of the Department of Interior and Local Government during the rites held at the Bahay ng Alumni, UP Diliman in Quezon City, recently.

The Presidential Award is conferred on local government units in recognition of their roles in the sustained promotion of the children’s right to survival, development, protection and participation, and in ensuring chld-friendly governance.

The other finalists were Mandaluyong, Olongapo, and Bulacan, with Davao City as champion. *(PIO/CD/JCM/PIA6)
