by Venus G. Villanueva

KALIBO, Aklan, May 9 (PIA) – Parents looking for cheaper but quality school this coming school year could once again rely on the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to help them save some hard earned cash.

The "Balik Eskwela Diskwento" project of the DTI will be on May 25-28 at the Provincial Trade Hall, Capitol Grounds on May 25-28. Participating agencies are the Provincial Government of Aklan, Department of Education, and local dealers of school supplies, according to DTI-Aklan Provincial Director Diosdado P. Cadena, Jr.

The DTI started the project last year, with the aim of providing parents, teachers and students a venue where they could buy basic school supplies at prices lower than those in commercial establishments. Items for sale include notebooks, pad paper, crayons, pencils, ballpens, bags, uniforms, among others.

The school supply dealers will come from Kalibo.

Besides lower prices of school supplies, the venue also offers convenient shopping as the Trade Hall is spacious and airy.

Most schools in Aklan will start their classes June 6 this year. (JCM/VGV PIA 6 Aklan)
