LOILO CITY, Nov. 9 (PIA6) -- Tour packages are now being developed here to boost the local tourism industry as the Iloilo Airport this week began receiving flights from Singapore and Hongkong.

Iloilo Tourism Officers Association President Jerry Anas of Leganes said one of the sessions during the 1st Iloilo Tourism Summit held last June 12 this year was for them to develop tour packages that will ease the visit of tourist in the different destinations and attract more to the province.

Anas said they are set to enhance and finalize these tour packages on November 21, 2012 in an activity called Enhancement Tour Circuit Workshop. Aside from the municipal tourism officers, the one-day activity will be participated in by tour operators, travel agents, and other stakeholders.

For the second district of the province, Anas said they have come up with two tour circuits which they called “Artes y Kultura Tour Circuit” and “Loco over Eco Tour Circuit”.

Anas said they have already conducted a mock tour on the “Artes y Kultura Tour Circuit” which will start in the town of Leganes, then Pavia and Sta. Barbara.

In Leganes, the people’s devotion to their patron saint, St. Vincent Ferrer will highlight the tour. It will start with a visit at the town’s church; a performance of the Saad Festival, a celebration of thanksgiving and healing of faith through the intercession of St. Vincent Ferrer; a walk tour to the town’s plaza; a visit to the Leganes Garden Club, awarded as Outstanding Ornamental Plant Growers; and the town’s eco-park.

Lunch will be served in one of the restaurants of the municipality of Pavia after a visit to its church and famous products such as pottery and “baye-baye”.

The attractions in Sta. Barbara include its church, museum, free-flowing red-colored drinking water and golf course which is the oldest in the country.

Anas said the “Loco over Eco Circuit Tour” will include the towns of Alimodian, San Miguel and Leon. It will still be subject to a mock tour.

The Metro Iloilo-Guimaras has also prepared a tour package dubbed “Agri- Eco Tour Circuit” involving Oton, San Miguel and Cabatuan towns.

“We will still validate all of these tour packages if they are viable. Then we will start to offer them during the Dinagyang Festival in January,” Anas said.

The “Enhancement of Tour Circuit Workshop” which will be held at Sarabia Manor Hotel is also supported by the Iloilo Business Club said Anas during the visit of the government information officers in One Town One Product sites of the municipality of Badiangan as part of the People’s Day conducted by the Association of Government Information Officers-Iloilo in coordination with the Philippine Information Agency on November 6.
