ALAN UMADHAY HONORED AS OUTSTANDING FARMER BY THE PROVINCE OF ILOILO

OUTSTANDING FARMERS, AGRI WORKERS IN ILOILO HONORED

The Iloilo Provincial Government gave due recognition to outstanding farmers and agricultural workers in the province as part of the 110th Semana sang Iloilo celebration.

The awardees were chosen based on the nomination of the Municipal Agriculture Officers and evaluation by a committee formed by the Provincial Agriculture Office.

The awardees were: Noel Zabala for High Value Commercial Crops (HVCC) Farmer-Entrepreneur, Dr. Ulysses Valdez for HVCC-Coffee, Eduardo Palmes for Fish Culture, Jose Cala-or – Farmer Entrepreneur, Lydia Saloma – Corn Farmer, Marlyn Pueyo – Integrated Farming System (Rice), Paula Aliboso – Integrated Farming System (Vegetables), Maraguit Rural Improvement Club – RIC Nutri-noodles processor, Alan Umadhay – HVCC (Red Lady Papaya) and Narciso Siojo – Livestock Farmer.

Certificates of recognition were also given to the following Municipal Agriculture Officers and Agricultural Technologists: Celsa Suarez and Josephine Saltin – Oton, Iloilo; Jesus Balila and Nilo Cotoner – Barotac Viejo; Felix Porras – San Enrique; Homer Hubag and Marilyn Hondrade – Pavia; Leopoldo Aguilang, Enrico Paclibar, and Anabel Castillanes – Passi City; Rosario Reyes, Hugo Tremucha and Monena Ballener – Cabatuan; and Waling-Waling Terania, Teresita Suela, and Juven Sonico – Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.

Governor Arthur Defensor congratulated the awardees whom he referred to as “the people who played the key and crucial role in making agriculture in the province sustainable.”

“They have proven that it’s worth the trouble of engaging in farming,” he added.

Defensor said the awardees should serve as inspiration to other farmers to also become successful.

“We shall continue to encourage our farmers and to help them because that is the only way to find a stronger foundation for sustainable farming in the province,” Defensor said.

Defensor stressed, “as long as I am your governor, I will ensure the success of agriculture in the province of Iloilo.”
