Cabatuan, Iloilo (Oct.1) - Alexander Calero Escucha chaired the panel of judges of The Asian Banker's IT Implementation Awards for four years now - since its inception in 2007. This awards programme was designed to determine and award the best practices of technological innovation in banking operations. The IT Implementation Awards are presented during the Asian Banker Summit, the most prestigious gathering of senior bankers in the region, held in Jakarta in 2007, in Hanoi in 2008, in Beijing in 2009 and in Singapore in 2010. Among the awards given every year are Best Call Centre Project, Best Front-office System, Best ATM Installation & Management Solution, Best e-banking Project, Best Banking Product Application, Best Banking Security System and Best Branch Security Systems. Alex Escucha was the Valedictorian of Cabatuan CES Class 1969, the Valedictorian of Cabatuan NCHS Class 1973, the President of the CNCHS Student Government in 1972-1973 and the Editor-in-Chief of The Glow (CNCHS student publication) in 1971-1973. He graduated Cum Laude from the U.P. School of Economics in 1977. Born in 1956 in Cabatuan, Iloilo, Alex is the son of Alfredo T. Escucha, a Korean War veteran, and Juana S. Calero. He is currently the First Vice President of China Banking Corporation. In CY 1998-1999, he was also the President of the Bank Marketing Association of the Philippines.
