Iloilo City (22 March) -- Ten graduating high school and elementary students were recently named as the Ten Outstanding Secondary School Students and Ten Outstanding Elementary Pupils in the city and province of Iloilo for this year 2007.

This annual award is open to all schools in the city and province of Iloilo. This is given by the Outstanding Students Circle of Iloilo (OSCI) a group of professionals who were all former recipients of this recognition handed out by the former Iloilo Governor Condrado J. Norada during his incumbency.

The awardees for the secondary level are Ray John Pamillo of Central Philippine University; Victor Robinson III of Ateneo de Iloilo - Sta. Maria Catholic School; Ken Hualde of Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School; Frances Pauline Leda of Lambunao National High School; Ivory June Cadete of SPED-Integrated School for Exceptional Children; Karl Vincent Abalajon of University of the Philippines High School - Iloilo; Joe Abad Lazaro of Don Felix Serra National High School; Ability-Ann Tacaisan of Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus; Luville Dato-on of San Enrique National Comprehensive High School; and Donna Isabelle Fresnido of University of San Agustin High School.

In the elementary, the awardees are Liza Marie Sira of Sta. Barbara Central Elementary School; Alyanna Krista Fuego of Ateneo de Iloilo - Sta. Maria Catholic School; Shaynne Laurice Demafiles of Iloilo Central Elementary School; Sheena Mae Amit of West Visayas State University Integrated Laboratory School, Alyanna Sinel Cortum of SPED -Integrated School for Exceptional Chieldren; Estee Joy Adolfo of Guimbal Central Elementary School; Exelle Anne Garrido of San Enrique Central School; Christina Mae Tronco of Cabatuan Central Elementary School; Adrian Nichol Lizada of Don Eugenio Ladrido Memorial Elementary School; and Karla Rosa Hualde of New Lucena Central School.

The participants were judged through their academic grades, 15%, Co-curricular activities, 35%, written examination, 25% and interview 25%.

OSCI Chair Henry Caspe said through this recognition, they are hoping that students would be motivated to work for better and worthwhile undertakings, not just in their schools, but also in their communities. (PIA)
