The following is the editorial of the defunct Evening News (June 7, 1951 issue) following the death of Senator Tomas Confesor on June 6, 1951.

Gone is a patriot

Death has once more deprived the country of one of its beloved leaders, a man who, in peace and war, stood staunchly on the side of his country and his people.

Senator Tomas Confesor, the Stormy Petrel, is gone. With his death, there is left a void in the hearts of his countrymen for whose welfare he fought indefatigably for years in the legislative halls, in the cabinet and other important government positions, in the field of battle, and in his capacity as a private citizen.

Tomas Confesor's kind of leadership was tested and found true both in peace and war. Always, he stood by the people he loved and wanted to serve no matter what the odds or the risks.

A statesman, legislator and patriot, Senator Confesor's life was dedicated to the service of his country and people. He is, easily, among the outstanding leaders and patriots of his generations.
