[6THE GLOW MARCH 1993 4 Paper Receives Award: Staffers Attend NSSPC by Ariel Moralba Mr. Victor S. Maroma, adviser of the school paper, receives the trophy and the Certificate of Recognition for THE GLOW, a winner in the 1993 National Secondary Schools Press Conference. THE GLOW, the official publication of the school, received a major award during the National Secondary Schools Press Confer­ence held in Rizal High School, Pasig, Metro Manila, on February IS- 19. Its editorial page was adjudged the second best among the secondary schools all over the country, be­longing to Bracket B. For this, it received a trophy. It should be noted that the honor garnered by the school paper is a duplication of the same honor earned during last year's national press conference held in Naga, Camarines Sur. During the 1991 National Secondary Schools Press Conference held in Tacloban City, Leyte, the editorial page ofTHE GLOW was adjudged the best in Bracket B of school paper contest. Meanwhile fourmembers ofthe staffofthe school paper attended the National Secondary Schools Press Conference. They were Melita Mayormente, Ariel Moralba, Mae Cyrene Doregios, and Josefino Pancrudo. Mayormente joined the English newswriting contest; Moralba, the English photo journalism contest; Doregios, the Fili­pino copyreading and headline writing con­test; and Pancrudo, the English sportswriting contest. The four staffers of the school paper quali­fied to join the national press conference by virtue of their victory during the Regional Secondary Schools Press Conference held in Passi Trade School, Passi, Iloilo, on Novem­ber 18-20, 1992. Only the top ten winners during the re­gional level of the press conference are quali­fied to participate in the national level of the same conference. The 1993 National Secondary Schools Press Conference was participated in by more than 2,000 student-writers and campus paper ad­visers all over the country. The theme of the conference was "Student Empowerment Through A More Responsible Campus Press." The four delegates to the national press conference were accompanied by Mr. Victor S. Mamma and Mrs. Eppie M. Talamor, advisers of the school paper. "I am happy to note that our school paper has won forthree consecutive years during the National Secondary Schools Press Confer­ence. This is indeed a great honor for our school and our town," Miss Lilia G. Fan­cubela, school administrator, commented. PTA to honor Outstanding Parents The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the school will honor the parents of honor graduates during the Commencement Pro-grain on March 28. Certificates of Appreciation will be awarded to parents of honor graduates by the officers and members of the Board of Direc­tors of CNCHS PTA. The recipients of the award will be headed by Engr. and Mrs. Mario Gil (nee Ma. Pet Portillano) whose daughter Mary Christine will graduate veledictorian; and Mr. and Mrs. Juanito Alfaro (nee Maternidad Torre) whose 'son Plebiscite will graduate salutatorian. Other recipients of the award will be Mr. and Mrs. Luciano Romallosa (nee Leonisa Catin) whose daughter Jane is first honorable mention; Mr. and Mrs. Wilfredo Moralba (nee Fatima Ramos) whose son Ariel is sec­ond honorable mention; Mr. and Mrs. Meliton Pedrola (nee Emma Gonzales) whose son Emil is third honorable mention. Mr. and Mrs. Jose Clamucha (nee Rosal­indaSamontafiez) whose daughter Ivy is fourth honorable mention; Mr. and Mrs. Pacifico Cornago, Sr. (nee Fe Lusaya) whose daughter Rosela is fifth honorable mention; Mr. and Mrs. Meliton Pedrola (nee Emma Gonzales) whose son Joemel is sixth honorable mention. Mr. and Mrs. Rodolfo Angelo (nee Loma Caras) whose daughter Aileen is seventh honorable mention; Mr. and Mrs. Ignacio Gonzales (nee Zosima Pedrola) whose daugh­ter Menchie is eighth honorable mention; Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel Alcayaga (nee Zenaida Betita) whose daughter Gertjie is ninth honorable mention; and Mr. and Mrs. Ariston Mayormente, Sr. (nee HerminiaLabata) whose daughter Melita is tenth honorable mention.
