MARCH 1993 THE GLOW For 7 consecutive years CNCHS CAT-1 Unit adjudeed the best HOLY WEEK RITES BARED To observe Holy Week, the Parish of San Nicolas de Toletino, Cabatuan, Iloilo has lined up a series of activities from April 4-11. The activities will start on April 4, Palm Sunday. To mark the day commemorating the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ to Jerusalem, coconut palm fronds locally known as Tames" will be blessed by Fr. Amadeo, Escafim, the parish priest, at the bandstand. From Good Monday to Good Wednesday there will be confessions and a religious conference at 6:30 p.m. At 6:30 a.m. of Holy Thursday, there will be the blessing of the holy oil at the Jaro Cathedral. At 3:00 p.m., a Holy Mass commemorating the Last Supper of Jesus Christ will be held. This will be followed by the procession of the Holy Eucharist around the church and will wind at the monument where the Holy Eucharist will be enshrined for the faithful to pay homage by way of keeping a vigil for the whole night. Also on Holy Thursday, the last Supper will be re-enacted at 7:00 p.m. at the community stage. On Good Friday, aWayofthe Cross will be held at 6:00 a.m. starting from the church to Balic hill, a distance of approximately one and a half kilometers. In the afternoon, ceremonies glorifying the Holy Cross will be held in the church, starting at 3 o'clock. This will be followed by another Way of the Cross along the usual procession route around the poblacion. After the procession, the kissing of the image of the Holy Interment will start and will last till late in the evening. On Holy Saturday, a Resurrection Mass will be held at 10:00 p.m. The next day, Easter Sunday, a traditional ceremony known as "dampug" will be held at 4:30 a.m. The ceremony will be preceded by a procession of the images of the Risen Christ and His Sorrowing Mother, in two separate directions, from the church to the dampugan or the place where the ceremony will take place. "Dampug" is an angel personified usually will by a small girl who wiannounce the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The CAT - I of the school, for seven consecutive years, was adjudged THE BEST among the 32 CAT - I units in Central -Western Iloilo. It garnered 909.5 points of 1,000 to the closest rival, the Santa Barbara National Comprehensive High School CAT -I unit by a very big margin. This distincthonorwas again reapedby the unit during the annual Theoritical, Adminis­trative and Tactical Inspection held on March 4. The team that evaluated and conducted a training test on the unit came from the Army ROTC, Unit of the University of Iloilo in Iloilo City. It was headed by T/Sgt. Romeo S. Gevero, P/21t. Fe Cuenca 1C1 Vicente D. Demadara, 1C1 Eduardo D. Befiares Jr., and ICL Roman C. Tefiaha. Aside from this distinct honor, three stu­dents of the school topped the theoritical exam for cadets/cadettes and the ceremonial parade ground arrangement. Cdtte. The observance of Holy Week this year will be managed by an Executive Committee perfected the later. The corps of cadets and cadettes of the school is under the command of Cdt. Col. Kenneth Libiano. His staff is composed of Cdt. Lt. Col. Plebiscito, Alfaro, S1; Cdtte. Maj. Jane Romallosa, S2; Cdtte. Maj. Mary Christine Gil, S3; Cdtte. Maj. Joy Tormon, S4; and Cdtte. Maj. Rosela Cornago, S5. Commanding the nine companies of the unit are Cdt. Maj. Ricky Defante, Alpha Company; Cdt. Capt. Erwin Alere, Bravo Company; Cdt. Maj. Joemel Pedrola, Charlie Company; Cdt. Maj. Gene Confesor, Delta Company, Cdt. Maj. Emil Pedrola, Echo -Company; Cdt. Maj. Ronald Tuares, Foxtrot Company; Cdt. Capt. Rogen Grejaldo, Golf Company; Cdtte Capt. Lorellee Leyso, Hotel Company; and Cdt. Capt. Zaldy Clarito, India Company. The CAT - I unit of the school is headed by Mr. Lope B. Apelo, Jr., the commandant, assisted by Mr. Gregorio Sala and Mr. Reyn­aldo Lagutang acts as the instructor. under the supervision of Rev. Fr. Amadeo Escafian, the parish priest, and Rev. Fr. Gualberto Lusaya, his assistant parish priest. The theme of the celebration will be "Reconciliation With God." Miss Lilia G. Fancubela, school administrator, receives from Mayor Eliseo C.
