School buys office machine by Rosela Cornago To improve office services, the school purchased a computer machine, an air conditioning unit, and a xerox copier on December 28, 1992. The computer machine costing P58,560.00 was purchased from Asset Management Services, Inc., the sole distributer of Azer brand of computer machine in Iloilo City. The air conditioning unit amounting to P28,000.00 was supplied by Vic Imperial Appliance Corporation. The xerox copier costing P67,950.00 was bought from UBIX Corpora­tion, the sole distributor of UBIX brand of xerox copier in Iloilo City. The funds used to purchase the new office machine were taken from the equipment outlay of the school for the calendar year 1991. "We decided to purchase new office machine in order to improve our recording system and facilitate the speedy release of official records," school administrator Miss Lilia G. Fancubela said. Alumnus passes P4UMA examination By Emil Pedrola ANTHONY CABALLERO Anthony Caballero, Class '91 hurdled the qualifying examination given by the Philip­pine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) last year. He was one of the 1,083 examinees who passed the examination taken by 3,517 aspirants to PMMA. Aside from passing the qualifying test, Caballero also hurdled the physical and neuro­psychiatric tests. Because of these, he will join other qualifiers in the orientation to be conducted by PMMA in May this year. Caballero informed THE GLOW that after graduation from the Academy, the graduate Atty. Elpidio T. Murga, a benefactor ofthe school now residing in the United States of America, again donated recently to the school 304 volumes of assorted books, instructional materials, wall decorations, and back issues of the Reader's Digest. The donated items were personally turned over to the school, through administrator Miss Lilia G. Fancubela, by the donor. The turn­over ceremony was done in front ofthe student body, the faculty and staff during a Monday convocation on January 14. It was witnessed by Mr. Daniel T. Murga and Miss Lucia T. Murga, elder brother and younger sister of the donor, respectively. The latter is a retired assistant principal of the school. The latest books donation of Atty. Murga came from his private library. The other donations which included a historical map of the world and wall decors were intentionally will have the rank of ensign, equivalent to second lieutenant. Furthermore, every gradu­ate, having been a government scholar, is required to render a return service of at least two years in the Philippine Navy. After ex­tending return service, the graduate has the option to work in a government ship either as third mate or fourth marine engineer. The PMMA passer is the second of the six children of Vicente Caballero and the former Luz Mateo. Prior to taking the PMMA exam, he was a second year Bachelor of Science in Accountancy student of Western Institute of Technology. bought for the school. It should be recalled that Atty. Murga had donated to the school several sets of Incyclopedia and other books on various subject matters. All his donations are honed in the Science library of the school. On the other hand, Atty. Murgaalso donated in January recreational facilities to Cabatuan Central Elementary School. Donated to his Ahna Mater, having graduated from the school in 1939, were four swings, three see-saws, two chinningbars,andone' "ring" '.Thedonated recreational facilities amountedto P12,000.00. The donations were formally turned over by Atty. Murga during a program held in Cabatuan Central Elementary School. In his speech, he said that the new recreational facilities he donted constitute the first phase of a recreation center in school. He imformed his audience that the center still has two other phases which shall be put up in the near future. Mayor Eliseo C. Tobias received the donations in behalf of the Municipality of Cabatuan. He turned over the key of responsibility over the recreation center to Mr. Roberto Cerrada, supervisor of the Cabatuan District I, who again turned it over to Mr. Angel Aguero, principal ofthe recipient school. In his acceptance speech, Mr. Aguero thanked Atty. Murga for his gesture of love and concern for the welfare ofthe pupils ofthe school. He promised to the donor that th school authorities will help maintain and preserve the recreation center.
