10 THE GLOW MARCH 1993 Alumna chosen UI Maria Clara '92 by Mario Troncoso MA. JILL C. AHUMADA An alumna of the school won a prestigious beauty title during a beauty pageant held on October 5, 1992 in the auditorium of the University of Iloilo. Ma. Jill Ahumada, Class '90, was crowned MISS MARIA CLARA '92 of the University of Iloilo after she got the nod of the judges. Her predecessor, Petronila Valencia, turned over the crown and the scepter to the new beauty title holder during the coronation program. During the beauty contest, Ahumada represented the College of Nursing. The other winners that composed the royal court were Mae Dao-Ang of the College of Criminology, first runner-up; Helen Palencia, second runner-up; Maria Salvation Bilbao, thirdrunner-up; andJoanOrtiga, fourthrunner? UP. Simultaneous with the search for Miss Maria Clara '92 was the search for Mr. Ibarra '92. The title was won by Marlon Malfarta The other winners were Wilfredo Bayani, first runner-up; Richard Labrador, second runner-up; Christupeter Hombre, third runner-up; and Anthony Catalan, fourth runner-up. The search for Miss Maria Clara and Mr. lbarra started in 1983. It is sponsored by the Rizalian and Cultural Museum of the University of Iloilo. Ma. Jill Ahumada is the eldest child of Rudyard Ahumada, an employee of the provincial government Iloilo, and the former Lilia Casianan, a Home Economics teacher of this school. She graduated as fifth honorable mention during the school year 1989-1990. ALUMNUS ELECTED SK FEDERATION PREXY by Ariel Moralba An alumnus of the school, belonging to Class '89 was unanimously elected president of the Municipal federation of the Sangguni­ang Kabataan (SK) in Cabatuan, Iloilo during an election held on January 4. Louvenn C. Leyso, the unopposed SK chairman of Barangay Zone X (Serrano St.), convincingly won over his four other oppo­nents for the top position in the municipal Federation of Sangguniang Kabataan in town. Elected vice president ofthe SK federation was Mary Jane Pesasico, SK chairman of Barangay Gines Patag. The other officers of the federation are Teodora Portillo, SK chair­man of Mangum.; Concepcion Tuares, SK chairman of Tiring; Lorlyn Niembra, SK chair­man of Tinio-an; and Warren Bidaure, SK chairman of barangay Zone III (Bermejo St.) Leyso is a fourth year student of the Uni­versity of San Agustin where he is pursuing his Bachelor of Arts (AB) degree, major in Political Science. He is the eldest of the four children of the late Eleuterio Leyso, an ele­mentary grades teacher, and the former Loma Cabra, a teacher in Cabatuan Central Elemen­tary School. The first president ofthe Municipal federa­tion of Sangguniang Kabataan in Cabatuan is an ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Bayan. As a member of the Sangguniang Bayan, he is the chairman ofthe committee on sports and youth affairs. The youngest member ofthe Sangguniang Bayan had held various positions of leader­ship in various organizations in the College of Liberal Arts of the University of San Agustin. He is a member of some civil and religious organizations in town. He is active in sports, particularly football. HON. LOUVENN C.
