MARCH 1998 % GEM Schools conduct career guidance' Sixteen colleges and universities in the city and province of Iloilo conducted career guidance oil fourth year students of the school on Feb. 26 and 27. Representatives from different schools came to Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School upon the invitation of the Guidance Office of the school. To facilitate the smooth and fair holding of career guidance, the Guidance Office scheduled a series of talks. Each school was allotted 30 minutes talk to graduating students. Oil Feb. 26, representative from Iloilo College of Business and Computer started the career talk. This was followed by the talk of representative from Forways Computer School. The Third talk was given by the Registrar from Philippine College of Aeronautics (Dungon A) After the break, the Guidance Counselor from De Paul College gave the talk. This was followed by the speaker from Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus and the Computer College of the Visayas and West Visayas State University in Lambunao. The afternoon session was opened by School to honor golden jubilarians' For the past four years, CNCHS has been honoring during graduation program, the 'Golden Jubilarians' or the alumni who graduated from the school 50 years ago. The golden jubilarians this school year are the members of class '48. Miss Remedios Licera, class president and Mrs. Luisa Aguero Linares, class coordinator helped facilitate and coordinate with their classmates who have worked or lived in other places in the country or abroad. - The 37 surviving male members of the class are Arsenio Arsenal, Salvador Balsa, Sinforoso BLIrl0l, Mariano Carancio, Honorio Cordero, Juan Cuadras, Manuel Gerona, Salvador Linares, Jose Madalogdog, Alfeo Malcontento, Juan Manaay, Marceline ~(To page 13) a talk of the instructor of Interface Com­puter College of Science and Technol­ogy and the University of San Agustin. The talk of the speaker from the AMA Computer Learning Center was given after the break. This was followed by the talk of the representative from Western Institute of Technology and St. Therese College. The next day, teachers from CNCHS conducted the career guidance. Two other schools were given an opportunity to conduct career guidance. The next talk was given by a teacher of Janivay Polytechnic College. The final talk was delivered by all instructor from Iloilo State College of Fisheries in Barotac Nuevo. All the career guidance sessions were, held in the extension of the shop building. The sessions were planned and conducted by the Guidance Office, staffed by Miss Belen Huyo, Mrs. Milagros Azin and Mrs. Nerissa Apelo. CW(To page 12) Mentors Four Math mentors and one English teacher of the school toured the city of Cebu on Feb. 28. Among the places they visited were DECS Regional Office Vii, Taoist tem­ple, Sto. Nino Cathedral, Magellan Cross, Cebu Plaza and several shopping centers. The group left Iloilo at 6:00 p.m. of Feb. 27 and Cebu at 6:00 p.m. of Feb. 28. The Parent-Teacher Association of the school will honor the parents of honor graduates during the graduation program oil March 27. Certificates of Appreciation will be awarded to parents of honor graduates by the officers of the PTA Board of Directors, headed by Mr. Pio R. Lujan, president and chairman of the board. The recipients of the award will be led by Mrs. Clarita Penit Aborde whose son Jorge will graduate valedictorian, and Mr. and Mrs. Alfonso Malaga (nee Herminia Pescuela) whose son Arniel will graduate salutatorian. Other recipients of the award will be Mr. and Mrs. Alejandro Rute (nee Anna Maria Andia) whose daughter Cherry Marie will graduate first honorable mention; Mr. and Mrs. Fernando Llanora ~(Topage 12) tour Cebu The group was headed by the Math­ematics Department head, Mrs. Delia Bayoneta. Other members of the group are Miss Norma Tuares, Mrs. Ma. Pet Gil, Miss Nelida Ferro and Mrs. Rosario Hualde. They were with some members of their rcspecti,!e families.
