a Tkp, GEM MARCH 1998 Alumna receives OutstandingAchievementAward 9 UPCAT pass Nine graduating students of the school passed the University of the Philippines College Admission Test given sometime in October 1997 in the University of the Philippines College of Arts and Sciences, hullo City. The nine who qualified are Arniel Ma­laga, Jorge Aborde, Cherry Marie Rute, Fritz Llanora, Irene Bettina Pueyo, Ritchel Mae Patrimonio, Jorgen Vila, Helernest Flores and Michael Richard Nava. The CAT I Unit of the school was adjudged The Best among the 37 CAT I Unit in the Third Congressional District of Iloilo. It garnered 944.125 points out of 1,000 points which is remarkably higher than its closest rival, the Pototan College of Arts and Science CAT I Unit. This distinct honor was reaped by the unit during the Annual Theoretical, Administrative and Tactical Inspection held on March 4. The team that evaluated and conducted the training test on the unit was headed by Maj. Edwin O. Cafiete, PA, CAT Supervisor/Chairman AATI '98. Other members of the team are Msgt. Rolando Dupit, Asst. Chairman/Team leader; Zoilo P. Dalde; Eduardo L. Carillo, Alben L. Lorilla and Rafael P. Abeto. Aside from this distinct honor, two students of the school topped the theoritical exam for cadets/cadettes. They Nymphs de la Rosa Romero, class 1959 of Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School received the Outstanding Achievement Award from Dallas Section of American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AICHE) during the National Engineers Week Annual Awards Gala at the Dallas Grande Hotel, Dallas, Texas, USA on Feb. 28. The award is in recognition of her contribution to the Chemical Engineering profession. are Cdt. Col. Ryan Carasco, corps commander and Cdt. Maj. Adrian Confesor, Echo Company; Cdt. Capt. Helernest Flores, Foxtrot Company; Cdt. Capt. Marvin Artieda, Gold Company, Cdt. Capt. ~(To page 13) NYMPHA DE LA ROSA ROMERO Engr. Romero is a B.S. Chemical Engineering graduate of FEATI University in Manila, Philippines and Associate in Computer Science from North Lake College in Irving, Texas, U.S.A. After passing the Professional Board Examination in 1976, she joined the Research Team of Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) in. Tigbauan, Iloilo. She worked on water quality and waste water treatment studies. In mid-1979, she worked as a project expert with Food Agricultural Organization of the United Nation- ,velopment Program (FAO­UNDP) projects in the Philippines. She was responsible for the preparation of project proposals, economic studies, implementation and application of the Artemis and fertilizer projects. She prepared a manual on Artemis production in salt ponds in the Philippines. When she migrated in the United States of America in 1981, she worked for Litwin Engineers and Constructors in Houston. She worked as a Process-System Engineer involved in the design of refineries and industrial plants. In 1985, she joined the City of Dallas Public Works and Transportation Department where she was involved from design to construction with asbestos abatement, HVAC cooling tower and the new moving walk projects of Dallas Love Field airport terminal, apart from ~(To page 12) CNCHS CAT I Unit adjudged the best Lope Apelo, CAT I commandant of the school and Mrs. Evelina Artieda, PERM department head receive the trophy as the best CAT I Unit in the Third Congressional District.
