10 Re Rm MARCH 1998 480 delegates attend work conference The CNCHS team ranked third in the Regional Statistical quiz held at the NEDA Regional Office in Iloilo City on October 8, 1997. The statistical quiz is open to all secondary schools in the whole region. Every year the contest is facilitated by the National Statistical Coordination Board headed by Mrs. Presentacion Penpillo. This is in connection with the celebration of the National Statistics Month. This year's theme is "Accurate Statistics inthe Advancement of Science and Technology: Foundation of a Strong Nation". Twenty five high schools, both public and private in Region VI, joined the quiz. The CNCHS team ' made it to the top 12 in the first round. During the last round, the team composed of Arniel Malaga 4-A, Jorge Aborde 4-A, and Lonerie Apelo 3-1 tied with the Central Philippine University Development High School Team. The contest committee broke the tie by giving another set of statistical problems. CNCHS was able to grab the third place after the tie-breaking questions. First place went to the Iloilo National High School special science class; second, Philippine Science High School; third, Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School; fourth, Central Philippine University Development High School; and fifth, West üisayas State University Laboratory Sch, ol. 'What yc, u are is God's gift to you, what you wiff become is Yourgift to God" - St. Augustine A total of 480 delegates coming from the six provinces and eight cities of region VI attended the Joint FFP­FAHP-FFPCC Regional Work Conference. The number of registered delegates is registered I broken down as follows: FFP 187; FAHP, 163; and FFPCC, 130 making a total of 480 delegates. The conference featured different skill contests. The FFP had contests in compounding feed ration, fertilizer computation, estimation of plant density, identification of seeds, postermaking, orthographic projection portrait making, project proposal, laying out an orchard, asexual plant propagation, farmlay-out, marcotting/grafting/budding, fishery skill contest, charcoal painting, AM radio trouble shooting, farm plan and budget and crab lift. Other FFP skill contests were feeds and fertilizer computation, net making, fish capture, net packing, net mending, fish culture, fish ponds lay-out, identifying vegetable seeds and feed formulation. The FAHP had skill contests in facial make-up with hairstyle, bangus deboning, crosstitch, corsage making, self invented snacks, poster slogan, sewing, cookies making, invented one dish-meal, and battle of the brains. Oil the otherhand, the FFPCC had, contests in facial make-up, on-the-spot drawing, wire spicing, 'poster slogan, soldering technique, oh-the-spot painting, I project proposal, diagramming of piston, fish pond lay-out, orthographic painting, charcoal painting, net mending, compounding feed ration, identification of pests and diseases, parliamentary procedure, drafting/drawing, and wiring diagram. The different skills contests were simultaneously given to FFP-FAHP and FFPCC contestants on January 27-28. Literary-Musical Contests for FFP­FAHP and FFPCC were also part of the activities. The contests were simultaneously scheduled at 7:00 P.M. of January 27 at the shop extension for the FFPCC and the CNCHS stage for the FFP-FAHP. The Literary-Musical contests include extemporaneous speech, public speaking, vocal solo, vocal duet and one-piece instrumental solo for both FFP-FAHP and FFPCC.
