28 The Glow MARCH 1998 sponsored by the Philippine National Red Cross. Twelve members of the school's delegation were fourth year students, namely Jorge Aborde, Heide Flor Corral, Fritz Llanora, Sheryl Overio, Francis Gerlyn Tronco, Maria Lulu Caspe, Jorgen Vila, Neva Ofiate, Rhea Isabel Rando, Michael Richard Nava, Carl Rupert Muela, and Ritchel Mae Patrimonio. We won several awards during the observance of Nutrition Month. Sheryl Overio topped the essay writing contest, followed by Jorge Aborde. In extemporaneous speaking contest, Jorge Aborde and Carl Rupert Muela finished second and third respectively. Fritz Llanora won the gold medal in vocal solo contest. During the Student Government election, Zosimo Miravite Jr. and Cherry Marie Rute were elected president and vice president, respectively. Six seniors were elected senators, namely Rufino Andon Jr., Maria Lulu Caspe, Ryan Carasco, Sally Fe Galindo, Angelie Soresea, and Francis Gerly Tronco. Elected representatives of the fourth year were Jonah Jane Esmaya, Stephen Miravite, and Rhea Isabel Rando. Allan Janapon ranked tenth in editorial cartooning during the Regional Schools Press Conference. During the cheering and yelling contest, Maria Lulu Caspe was adjudged second best cheer leader. Our classmates reaped honors during the FFP/FAHP Provincial Eliminations. Jorge Aborde bested other contestants in public speaking contest. Allan Janapon placed third in poster slogan contest and so with Remy Joy Adane in sewing blouse contest. Fritz Llanora also won third place in vocal solo contest. The tandem of Cherry Marie Rute and Arniel Malaga ranked third in quiz bee contest. During the PoWiz contest, Jorge Aborde and Arniel Malaga ranked second in the province of Iloilo. We again made impressive performance during the Visayas Students Regional Conference sponsored by YMCA. The delegation of CNCHS was chosen as the Most Active and has the Most Number of Delegates. Zosimo Miravite Jr. was elected vice chairman of the conference for the high school level. Cherry Marie Rute and Jorge Aborde were selected to compose the staff of the newsletter of the conference. Arniel Malaga ranked third in essay writing contest. Fritz Llanora got the bronze medal in vocal solo contest. Michael Richard Nava was chosen as the best cheerleader. Three seniors - Francis Gerlyn Tronco, Mary Joyce Ramos, and Gerlyn Tronco joined the contingent of our school during the provincial encampment of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines. The CNCHS contingent emerged as champion in interpretative dance contest. It received awards for Best in Uniform, Most Number of Trees Planted, and Third Most Outstanding Contingent. Jorge Aborde won the silver medal in public speaking contest during the Regional FFP/FAHP/ FFPCC Work Conference. During the Mathematics Day, the tandem of Jorge Aborde and Jonah Jane Esmaya placed second in vocabulary contest. Sharon Padilla ranked third in composo contest. Julian Guardamano was second placer in poster-slogan contest. Jorge Aborde topped the essay writing contest, with Cherry Marie Rute garnering the third place. Jonah Jane Esmaya, Braddy Racho, and Rufino Andon made a 1-2-3 finish in Damath contest. Zosimo Maternal Jr. won first place in encomium contest. This school year, the CAT-1 unit of our school demonstrated its excellence by topping the administrative and tactical inspection in the entire third congressional district of Iloilo. The greatest legacy of Class '98 to our beloved Alma Mater is a big number of qualifiers in the scholarship examination given by the Department of Science and Technology. Fifteen (15) of us - the biggest number so favirtlualified to be DOST scholars, Five (5) qualified for a Bachelor's degree. They are Arniel Malaga, Stephen Miravite, Richard Sumagpao, Sally Fe Galindo, and Helernest Flores. Ten (10) qualified fora technical course. They are Jonah Jane Esmaya, Jennie Cabaltirra, Ritchel Mae Patrimonio, Francis Gerlyn Tronco, Joyce Daza, Rosario Paguntalan, Leomie Sobreguil, Allan Janapon, Braddy Racho, and Eric Redome. Aside from this singular honor, nine (9) of us passed the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT). The passers are Arniel Malaga, Jorge Aborde, Cherry Marie Rute, Fritz Llanora, Irene Bettina Pueyo, Ritchel Mae Patrimonio, Jorgen Vila, Helernest Flores, and Michael Richard Nava. This is the history of Class '98 Undoubtedly, our history becomes a part of the glorious history of our dear Alma Mater, the Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School. As we leave our history to our Alma Mater, we hereby express our million thanks and grateful appreciation to our dear CNCHS, to our beloved teachers and members of the staff, and to all our schoolmates who helped make our four-year stay in CNCHS pleasant, enjoyable, memorable, and fruitful.
