MARCH 1998 Tke, Rm 31 Class--'98 Prophecy It was a night of nights. The occasion? Cherry's debut. All the well-wishers were cheerful and congenial as they joined the birthday celebrant. The debutante herself looked elegant and regal in her attire, exuding an aura of conviviality and self-confidence. As I feasted my eyes on Cherry's beauty, suddenly there was a spark of magic, like that one in a fairy tale. I was amazed to realize that there was a sudden change of place. The new place is the magnificent and imposing Roman Catholic church of Cabatuan City. The church is well lighted by hundreds of lights and chandeliers, ready for a great event the wedding of the millennium. The bride? An internationally known business tycoon, Cherry Marie . Rute, owner of Rutelecom, an international telephone company. Her lucky groom is a computer genius, Helernest Flores, with a network- of computer companies all over the world. The exotic and exquisite gown of Cherry was designed by the successor of Versace, the internationally acclaimed, Carl 19- A," P HdAs.-. Rupert Muela. The grand wedding will be officiated by His Eminence, Peter John Cardinal Cudo. Ina short while, the wedding ceremonies began with a bridal march. The background music of the march was vocalized by the recent champion of Asia Music Festival, Fritz Llanora. With the bridal entourage during the bridal march were the principal sponsors headed by the President of the Philippines, His Excellency Jorge P. Aborde, and his First Lady, the former Heide Flor Corral, a social worker. Other male principal sponsors included Gen. Ryan Carasco, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines; Hon. Michael John Brey, Philippine Ambassador to Vatican City; Dr. Julian Guardamano, secretary of the Department of Science and Technology; Hon. Zosimo Miravite Jr., mayor of Cabatuan City; Atty. Christian Arfel Cuadras, president of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Dr. Marrel Bordon, chief of Iloilo Medical Center-; and accountant Julen Cuello, president of Philippine National Bank. The female principal sponsors were Angelie Soresca, consultant of United Nations on human rights; Dr. Sally Fe Galindo, a computer programmer who was chosen as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Women of the Philippines; Jeannie Cabaltierra, regional director of the Department of Science and Technology; Jorgen Vila, chancellor of the University of the Philippines in the Visayas; Cathlea Locsin, president of the Philippine Hairdressers Association; Neva Ofiate, chief chemist of United Laboratories based in Manila; and Debora Moralba, mayor of Maasin, Iloilo. Along the way to the hotel could be found a series of skyscrapers.
