Mentor to address 683 graduates Dr. Nenita B. Reteracion, Ph. D., assistant dean of the Institute of Science Education, Mindanao State University, Marawi City will address the 683 graduates of the school during its 58th Commencement exercises on April 2. Dr. Reteracion is the 2nd of the six children of Patricio Reteracion Sr. and the former Genoveva Baeha of the town. Her mother was a Mathematics professor of .West Visayas State College and her father was a History teacher of Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School. Both are deceased. The commencement speaker finished her elementary education with honors at Cabatuan Central Elementary School. She acquired her secondary education with honors at Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School. She pursued her Chemical Engineering degree at the University of San Agustin, Iloilo City. She enjoyed the Don Jose Yulo Scholarship grant at the University of San Agustin from 1975-1976. She took and passed the Chemical Engineering Licensure Examination in 1976. To augment her educational background, she pursued her Master in Science Teaching (MST) major in Physical Science degree at De La Salle University, Taft Avenue, Metro Manila. She was a National Science Development (NSDB) Scholar from 1978-1980. To top it all, she finished her Doctor of Philosophy in Science Education major in Chemistry at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City. Prior to her present position, she was a Crusher Juice Analyst of Bukidnon Sugarmilling Company, Inc., Quezon, Bukidnon from 1977-1978. From 1982 to present, she is- a Regional Trainor of DOST funded Special Summer Institute Program for Science and Math Teachers. She is also DECS-DOST trainor in Practical Works in High School Chemistry. Aside from her present position, she is also Professor IV of Mindanao State University, a Thesis Adviser in Master of Science Teaching (MST) major in Physical Science and Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) General Science Programs of the Mindanao State University Science Training Center. She is also the chairman of MSU Science High School Scholarship Committee. In recognition of her intelligence and leadership competence, she was elected president of MSU-STC Faculty and Staff Club. Because of her journalistic skills, she is at present content Editor of ISED Journal of Research in Science Education and Consultant of ISED Newsletter.
