Recognition Day Program De la Cruz to inspire honorees Dr. Cynthia Cerrada - De la Cruz, M.D., D.P.P.S., valedictorian of CNCHS Class '77 will be the inspirational speaker during the Recognition Day Program of the school on March 27. The 42 - year old alumna of the school is the eldest of the five children of Licerio Cerrada and the former Lucila Dureza. The inspirational speaker demonstrated academic excellence during her student days. She graduated from Cabatuan Central Elementary School in 1973 as class valedictorian. She took up AB pre-medicine at West Visayas State College (now University) and graduated cum laude in 1981. She pursued her Doctor of Medicine degree at WVSC. And finished it in 1985. She took and passed the Medical Board Examination in 1986. To augment her education, she had residency in Pediatrics at Iloilo Doctors Hospital in 1988-1991. She became Diplomats of Philippine Pediatrics Society in 1988 after passing the Pediatric Specialty Board Examination. At present, she is a pediatrician of the Medical Mission Group Clinic in Aklan. She is the vice-president of Aklan Medical Society and J.G. Macciri and Co. Inc. (a family business) She is also the Incoming president of the Catholic Women's League in Kalibo, Aklan. She works as Medical Director of Aklan Mission Hospital in Kalibo, Aklan. Cynthia is married to Guidon de la Cruz, a businessman from Kalibo, Aklan. The couple has been blessed with six children, 4 boys and 2 girls. Dr. Cynthia Cerrada - De la Cruz, M.D., D.P.P.S. 28 pass U P C A T Twenty eight graduating students of the school passed the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT) given sometime in August 2001 at the College of Arts and Sciences in Iloilo City Out of the 67,060 applicants' from all over the country who took the UPCAT, only around 10,000 were able to qualify the University Pre­dicted Grade (UPG). Of this number 28 were from CNCHS. The UPCAT qualifiers are: (in al­phabetical order) Rhea Joy Abordo, Lorvilyn Amoroso, Noemi Apistar, Mark Archer Balberde, Connie Beba, Ma. Liza Bernardo, Althea June Biaoco, Jenna Grace Bibanco, Romeo Calero, Jr., Annaliza Celendro, Leah May Dominguez, Jay Roseville Dudas. Ma Cheryl Estolano, Dee Gomez, JC Halili, Neny Dawn Jover, Kathy Jane Licera, Tommy Leo Los Banes, Marian Lujan, Marian Janice Mamon, Kevin Montoya, Nowelyn Paredes, Emy Pedrola, Henly Puga, Daphne Servita, Rashelle Tormon, Mark Reynan Villasana and Carlo Yap. Recognition Day Program scheduled on March 27 CNCHS will hold its Recognition Day Program on March 27 at the community stage starting at 7:30 a.m. The program will be opened by a processional march of all honorees together with their parents. To be recognized and honored during the program will be students from first year to fourth year who made outstanding performance in different fields of educational endeavors during the school year 2001-2002. The first batch of honorees will consist of the top 25 graduating students who compose the cream of the crop 2002. Some of the awards to be given during the program are Journalist of the Year, Historian of the Year, Outstanding FFP and FAHP Student Leaders, Red Crossers of the Year, and Outstanding Athletes. The award will be in the form of a medal. The next batch of honorees will be the top ten students of each of the curriculum years as well as the top three students of each of the 12 sections of the fourth year, 14 sections of the V year, 15 sections of the second year and 17 sections of the first year who demonstrated academic excellence during the school year. The last batch of honorees will be the CAT-1 awardees. Invited to deliver the inspirational message to the honorees is Dr. Cynthia Cerrada - De la Cruz, M.D., D.P.P.S., valedictorian of class 1977 of CNCHS.
