February Affair 2002 English Club marks hearts day The English Club of the school sponsored the February Affair 2002 to , celebrate Valentine's Day. A series of academic contests were given during thee week-long activity for the ,school year 2001-2002. At 2:00 p.m. of February 14, :.contests in boggle, crossword puzzle, ,squabble, scrabble, poem writing and 'essay,Wrjti.n.g. were held. The plays entitled "Alicia" by the officers of the club and "The Oil Lamp" of 1-Euclid clas&.highlighted the culminating program on February 18 at 7:00 a.m. During the program, the officers of the English Club were presented. Contests in spelling and vocabulary were ,staged Other numbers in the program include choral reading, interpretative reading, recitation, modern dance, vocal duet and ballroom dancing. Also during the program, winners of the different contests were announced and given medals as prizes. The English Club is headed by JC Halili as president. English Club Officers presented a play entitled "Alicia" which highlighted the February Affair 2002. The English Department of the school is headed by. Mrs. Nenita G. Pueyo as department head. Other English teachers are Ninfa Dio Santiaga Mae Maquilado, Josefina Suma gaytay, Rosario Hualde, Eppie Talamo.r, Ofelia Tobias, Marilou. Regalado, Ofelia Adelantar, Consuelo Piccio, Meda Arlos, Victor Maroma and Ramona Marcon (volunteer teacher) CNCHS CAT-I Unit adjudged the best For the past six years, the CAT-1 Wit of the school has been adjudgid the Best CAT Unit among the 37 CAT-1 Units of the Third Congressional District of Iloilo. It garnered points which were femarkably,higher than its closest rival, Pototaln -National High School CAT-1 Unit. Though the Tactical Inspection/ Evaluation Committee was administered for the first time by. the Physical Education School Sports Division, Department of Education, still the school garnered the highest award. The special evaluating team were personnel of the Department of Education with military background. The team was headed by Mr. Bonifacio Prias, principal of New Lucena High School. Other members of the team were Mr. Juanito Roquero, master teacher of Alimodian National ational High School and Mr. Pedro Belandres, Jr., head of the PERM Department of Dumangas National High School. The Corps of Cadets and Cadettes is under the command of Cdt. Col. JC Halili. The CAT-1 Unit of the' school is headed by Mr. Lope B. Apelo, Jr., as commandant. Assisting him are Mr. Gregorio Sala, Mr. Noel Catolin, Mr. Teddy Gabanite, and Mr. Reynaldo Lagutang. The adviser of the Corps of Sponsors and Escorts is Mrs. Lourdes A. Solis. CLUB RECEIVES BOXING GLOVES Mr. Isidro Puga and ILECO I through Mr. Ricardo Morales, board of director donated a set of gloves each to the boxing club of the town. The club headed by Mr. Arsenio Caballero, president and Mr. Virgilio Solacito, vice president acknowledge with atmost appreciation the donation, "I would like to call on boxing enthusiasts of the town to support the boxing club by donating boxing equipments. Your help will greatly help the potential boxers of the town," Mr. Virgilio Solacito said. He further emphasized that the boxers of the school have continually reaped gold medals in both lower and higher meets. Whatever honor these boxers bring to the school will also, be a laurel to the community. the GLOW april 2002 9
