School Board awards medals
The municipal school board awarded a Mayor Ramon C. Yee gold medallions and certificates to students who by their academic excellence have brought honor to family, school and community.
It is the vision of the school board that the youth be inspired and recognized as future leaders of the municipality in particular and the country in general.
The award medallions and certificates will be given to honor graduates of secondary and elementary schools of the town every year during the graduation ceremonies starting this school year.
The municipal mayor himself and the members of- the sangguniang bayan will give the award medallions and certificates.
After awarding the Ramon C. Yee medallions and certificates, Sangguniang Bayan Members, Amelita Maroma, Oscar Cuello, Valentin Sujede, Nestor Amoroso with Mayor Ramon C. Yee and PTCA President Pio Lujan pose with the class 2002 valedictorian, JC Halili.
Alumna continues project
Ten students of the school became recipients of cash assistance from Erlinda Zaragoza Causing-Lapid, an alumna of the school belonging to Class, '57.
The recipients of the financial assistance are Flordelyn Yniego, David Jeremiah Pedrosa, Eli Asencio, Joe Marie Barrios, Daryl Almarza, Gessy Ann Sala, Joemar Pizaro, Eurico Marcon, Anthony Galindo III, and Althea Biaoco.
The financial assistance of Lapid defrayed the miscellaneous fees paid by the recipients during enrolment. Now on its second year, the project of Lapid is facilitated by Mr. Victor S. Maroma, special assistant to school administrator, who was authorized "to screen the recipients of the cash assistance. The primary considerations in choosing the beneficiaries of the cash assistance are the great interest of students in studies, and skills in declamation so as to provide incentives to declaimers of the school to
strive for excellence in declamation contests.
Two of the ten recipients of the cash assistance are declaimers of the school: Althea Biaoco, a Filipino declaimer, and Anthony Galindo 111, an English declaimer.
Biaoco placed second during the Third Congressional District Meet. She ranked second among the nine contestants representing the towns of Janivay, Lambunao, Calinog, Bingawan, Badiangan, Mina, Pototan, Maasin, and Cabatuan.
Galindo, on the other hand, bested all other contestants in English declamation during the Third Congressional District Meet. He duplicated this feat when he was adjudged the champion in English declamation contest, thus emerging as the best English declaimer in the whole province and city of Iloilo. With his victory, he represented Iloilo during the West Visayas
Meet participated in by the provinces of Negros Occidental, Guimaras, Aklan, Capiz, Antique, and Iloilo. He placed second to Aklan during the contest.
For giving a name to the school and to Cabatuan, Anthony Galindo III received a cash prize of P1,000.00 from Erlinda Zaragoza Causing – Lapid, through Mr. Maroma.
During her high school days, the former Erlinda Zaragoza Causing was a declaimer in Filipino language. She gave honors to the school by winning in Filipino declamation contests. She became first place winner in Filipino declamation contest in the whole province of Iloilo. Her victory qualified her to represent Iloilo during the West Visayas Athletic Meet held in Bacolod.
The school alumna is a nurse by profession, She is married to Willy Lapid of Pampanga. The couple resides in Illinois, United States of America
