R11' ___r=_ I'm S CNCHS tribe wins to* awards SY 2003-2004 Four Mentors promoted MT Tribu Tumandok of Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School performs in a judging area in front of the public market. Tribu Tumandok, the contesting tribe of Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School, won top awards during the Hirinugyaw festival held on August 31 The tribe was adjudged the over-all champion among the seven competing tribes. It was awarded a trophy and a cash prize of P15,000.00. Aside from winning the major award, Tribu Tumandok also won two special awards: Best in Discipline and Best in Street Dancing. The tribe received a trophy and a cash prize of P3,000.00 for each special award. The champion team consisted of 60 warriors and 20 drummers. The choreography of the tribe's main performance centered on the culture of the town with special focus on the spirituality of the townspeople, as manifested by their devotion to their Patron Saint, San Nicolas de Tolentino. For several years, Tribu Tumandok has participated in Hirinugyaw festival, a cultural contest sponsored by the Municipal Government of Cabatuan. The contest involves a street dancing in between the judging areas and a choreographed performance in Congressman Arthur Defensor of the 31c Congressional District of Iloilo donated 1 million pesos through the Department of Education for the construction of the Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School Covered Gym. During the Presentation of Sponsors and Escorts and March-in-Review of the CAT Unit of the school, held last February 24, 2004, of which the Congressman was the A missionary group from South Korea conducted a musical concert and a medical mission on July 16 in two separate venues. The Bandang Central Youth Community staged a musical concert from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in front of the administration building of the school. A total of 42 singers, dancers, and stage artists participated in the concert. The musical concert featured songs, dances, and dramas with one common message: accepting Jesus Christ as one's personal Saviour. The concert also encouraged the audience to abandon a sinful life and instead embrace and practice a truly Christian life. Simultaneous with the musical concert was a medical mission held in the covered gym in the town plaza. Manned by three doctors of medicine, two each judging area located in strategic places around the town plaza. Adjudged as first runner-up Was Tribu Cacao of Acao National High School, which also won three special awards: Best in Performance, Best in Choreography, and Best in Costume. Tribu Landing of Tiring National High School was declared second runner-up. Other competing tribes in Hirinugyaw festival this year were Tribu Hiyas of Wenceslao S. Grio National High School in barangay Puyas, Tribu Suh of honoree, he officially announced that he will donate 1M pesos for the Construction of the covered gym of CNCHS. The construction will start as soon as the budget is released and is expected to be finished by early next year. The holding of a musical concert in school with a religious message is a part of the values formation program jointly pursued by the Values Education department and the Guidance Services Office of the school. Ambrosio Maido National High School in barangay Jelicuon Montinola, Tribu Parayan of Mateo National High School in barangay Manguna, and Tribu Balangaw of the Public Market Vendors Association. Last year, Tribu Tumandok of Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School was a recipient of three special awards: Best in Discipline, Best in Costume, and Best in Street Dancing. The Hirinugyaw festival is held every year as an opening salvo of the town fiesta celebration on September 10. Solon pledges help for CNCHS Rep. Arthur D. Defensor, congressman of the third district of Iloilo, will implement projects for the improvement of Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School. This was disclosed by the lawmaker during his latest visit to the school recently. Cong. Defensor pledged to act favorably on the request of the school to extend financial assistance for the purchase of plastic tablet chairs to be used in the Filipino department, headed by Mrs. Rebecca P Fenis. Mrs. Fenis initiated the move to ask help from the congressman regarding additional chairs. Likewise during his visit, Cong. Defensor pledged to Mr. Victor S. Maroma, Officerin-Charge of the school, to appropriate an amount for the asphalt overlay of the road from the main gate of the school to the Filipino building a distance of 200 meters, more or less. Accompanied by Mayor Ramon C. Yee and Sangguniang Bayan member Reynaldo C. Nandin, Cong. Defensor toured the school campus to see for himself the real situation prevailing in the school. After the tour of the campus, the lawmaker felt the need to effect immediate Improvements in the physical set-up of the school "I will do the best I can to help CNCHS," Cong. Defensor said. Talamor, administrative officer of the school. Promoted as Master Teacher I are Visluzminda M. Catedral, Mrs. Celerina T. elecanal, Mr. Andresito Navarro, and Mr. Lope Apelo Jr. Mrs. Catedral teaches Research to Special Science Class as well as Agriculture. She is the incumbent president of the Teachers and Employees Association of the School. Mrs. Elecanal had been teaching Araling Panlipunan. At present, she handles Values Education. For several years, Mr. Navarro had been teaching Automotive to Post-Secondary Education students until the two-year trade technical course ,vas phased out. At present, he FI ,`,,F-7CA elects The Parent-Teacher- Community Association (PTCA) of the school elected a new set of officers who will serve a term of three school years starting this school year 2003-2004. The election done through secret balloting was held on October 4 at the administration building of the school. Elected chairman of the Board of Directors was Mrs. Rosita R. Umadhay. Voted to the presidency of the Association was Mrs. Tita Q. Layador, with Sangguniang Bayan Reynaldo C. Nandin as the vice president. Other officers of the CNCHS PTCA are Mrs. Elizabeth M. Caballero, secretary; Mrs. Thelma C. Garrido, treasurer; Mrs. Priscila M. Muyuela, auditor; and Mr. Virgilio Morata, business manager. The members of the Board of Directors are Mrs. Thelema 0. On July 11, the 3 , 2 6 7 students of the school had an experience 0 n citizenship training when they elected the officers of the Student Government for the school year 2003-2004. Elected president was Raymund Pula, a senior student belonging to Special Science Class while Jephany Gador, his classmate, got the nod of the studentry for the vice presidency. Pula and Gador were the standard bearers of Alliance of Concerned, Energetic, and Responsible Students Party that won most of the elective positions in the Student Government. In the senatorial race, Angelyn Nandin, a junior student, emerged the topnotcher. Trailing her were Grace Puga and Reynalyn Nandin, also junior students. The twelve other candidates who made it to the "Magic 15", in the order of votes garnered, were Sheena Marie Bret', Jonna Italia, April Puga, Jenny Ann Parin, Arvin Val Dominguez, Diana Mae Yniego, Ma. Anndrea teaches Automotive to third and fourth year students. Mr. Apelo is one of the three college instructors of the school. Concurrently he is the CAT-1 Commandant of the School. Due to his competence and dedication the CAT-[ Unit of CNCHS has been adjudged the Best CAT Unit in Central-Western Iloilo and later in the Third Congressional District of Iloilo. The honor has been enjoyed by the CNCHS for eight consecutive years. The new Master Teachers I of the school filled the positions vacated by Mrs. Consejo C. Gonzaga, Miss Aida T. Comodero, Mr. Alejandro Trojillo, and Mr. Rafael Ardo who retired from government service. Pula, president of the CNCHS Student Government; Mr. Felipe A. Casianan Jr., immediate past Chairman of the Board of Directors; and Mr. Pio R. Lujan, immediate past president of the Association. The new set of officers of the CNCHS PTCA was formally inducted to office during a program held on October 10. Mayor Ramon C. Yee was the inducting officer. Each curriculum year elected their representatives to the Students Government. Patrick Philip Casianan, Mary Ann Velarde, and Louie Evans Sala won the right to represent the first year students. The voice of the sophomore students in the Student Government are Mary Jane Italia, Dixie Mae Tormon, and Tracy Grace Padilla. The junior students gave their trust and confidence to Anita Mae Arellanc, Ma. Soledad Elecanal, and Rex Vincent Amor to represent them in the highest student organization in school. To act as the spokespersons of the senior students are Jemil Ignacio Azin, Melchor Sorongon Jr., and Ishalle Marie Galagate. The advisers of the Students Government of the school are Mrs. Manuela Alcayaga, Mrs. Marianne G. Bastiero Mr. Joselito Bastiero, Mrs. Concepcion 0. Carasco, and Mrs. Mrs. Felt' C.
