Baron, Lady Dawn Casahares, Jenny Ann Parin Doreen Coronado, Jonnah Oguing and Joefe Asencio Address: Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School, Cabatuan, Iloilo School: Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School A B S T R A C T The study on the Quality of water in Tigum River in Cabatuan, Iloilo was conducted from April to July 2003. It aimed to determine the water quality of the river at the Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School testing the presence of Fecal- coliform bacteria using the Water Multiple Fermentation Tube Technique. The study also aimed to determine the pH level of water in Tigum River. Tigum River passes through three barangays in Cabatuan namely Amerang, Salacay and Tiring. Water samples were gathered from each barangay. Set-ups al and A2 were from Salacay; set-ups bl and B2 were from Amerang, and setups C1 and c2 from Tiring. The water samples were analyzed to determine the presence of fecal-coliform at Western Visayas Medical Center while the determinaitona of the pH level was done at Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School Laboratory. The laboratory analysis revealed that the water from each barangay of Tigum River was devoid of fecal-coliform bacteria and is alkaline. Therefore, the researchers concluded that the water from I igum River is safe to use for domestic use. The researchers recommend the use of water from Tigum for domestic use. More studies on the water quality of Tigum River should be conducted. Further studies using different methods and bases are highly recommended. It is further recommended that the microbial content from the river be determined.
