Pisces Joy Colorado Razon was crowned as the town fiesta queen during the coronation ceremonies held on September 10 at the covered gym in the town plaza. The coronation ceremonies started with a torch parade at 7:00 p.m. from the residence of the queen in Serrano Street to the covered gym. Mayor Ramon C. Yee welcomed all the guests to the coronation, program. He also officially proclaimed the town fiesta queen. Mr. Leo S. Padilla, the chief of the general services division of Western Institute of Technology in La Paz, Iloilo City delivered the encomium for the queen. The fiesta queen was jointly crowned by Judee Nicole D. Romero, Miss Cabatuan 2004, and Cong. Arthur D. Defensor who also delivered his coronation message. In his speech, Cong. Defensor assured the townspeople of his consorted by her first -cousin Michael Joseph Colorado. The consort is a second year Nursing student of West Negros College in mother is a chemical engineer. Due to her innate intelligence, she finished her elementary education in Montesori Integrated Cabatuan National Compre­hensive High School hosted the Regional Training for School Paper Advisers and Campus Journalists held on August 19-21, 2005. The training aimed to hone new student writers the skills of journalistic writing and to enhance further the knowledge of school paper advisers in the field of campus journalism. A total of 547 delegates coming from the different elementary and secondary schools comprising Region VI attended the two-day journalism training. The participants in the training were campus writers and school appear advisers of elementary and secondary schools in Western Visayas. The conference featured lectures on various aspects of campus journalism. Every lecture was followed by a contest in English and Filipino categories. Promising campus writers of the school reaped various awards during the Regional Cluster Seminar and Contests and Golden Pen Awards 2005 held at the Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School on August 28, 2005. Prior to the contests, lectures in editorial writing, news writing, feature writing, copyreading and headline writing, sports writing and cartooning for elementary and secondary levels were conducted. The staffers of the school's two publications namely, 'The Glow', and There were four contests for the elementary and secondary levels: newswriting, editorial writing, feature writing, and copyreading and headline writing. Three top winners were declared for every contest in the elementary and secondary levels, both for teacher-advisers and student writers. Each champion was awarded a plaque while other winners received certificates of recognition. The training for school paper advisers and campus journalists was spearheaded by Mr. Jude Thaddeus I. Iledan, regional English supervisor in-charge of campus journalism. He also acted as .trainer during the training. The two-day regional training was formally opened by a program held at the covered gym in the town plaza. Town Mayor Ramon C. Yee welcomed the delegates to the journalism training. `Ang Sinag' joined hands and came out with the most number of awards. Proving their prowess in editorial writing, Filipino category, five senior students were announced as winners. Three of them got hold of top three major awards namely, Jan Oliver Acuesta, as the champion, closely followed by Feby Carmen as second placer, and Ma. Theresa Tejada, as the third place winner. The other winners were Oscar Recabar and Arianne Faye Escuadra as runners-up. Most Citizen-Friendly Cabatuan PNP station gets award The local station of the Philippine National Police (PNP) became a recipient of two awards in connection with the Search for Most Citizen-Friendly Police station, launched by the National Police Commission Region 6 and the Philippine National Police Office Region 6. According to the result of the Search, the PNP station of Cabatuan is the Most Citizen-Friendly PNP Station, in the municipal category, in the entire province of Iloilo. In the regional level of the search, the Cabatuan PNP station was honored as the Second Most Citizen-Friendly PNP Station in Region 6.
