The GLM SY 2005-2006 School bet ranks 2nd in Science Quiz Bee A new Officer-in-Charge has been assigned by the Iloilo Division. Office of the Department of Education to take the reins of leadership of Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School. Mrs. Nenita Garrido-Pueyo assumed office as the Officer-in­Charge of the school starting September 12, 2005. She replaced Mr. Bonifacio P. Prigs who had been designated by the Iloilo Division Office of the Department of Education as Officer-in-Charge of Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School on October 1, 2004. The new Officer-in-Charge is concurrently the head of the English Department of the school. She started her teaching career as a classroom teacher in the same school in 1975. For many years she had enjoyed the rigorous but rewarding work of a classroom teacher. Because of her dedication to duty, good performance in the service, and educational qualifications, her hard labor paid off when she was later promoted as the head of the English Department. Her promotion as the department head started her to perform administrative functions MRS. NENITA G. PUEYO such as the Officer-of-the-Day. She acted as Officer-in-Charge of the school during the times when the school administrator was away on official business or travel. The experiences had given her adequate opportunity to enhance further her administrative duties. The 59-year old Officer-in­Charge of the CNCHS is married to Mr. Hermogenes Pueyo, also an employee of the school. They are blessed with four children namely Herne (deceased), Jenie who is now in Canada, Noeme, a Commerce graduate of CPU, and Jonathan, who is presently pursuing the course in Medical Technology at the Iloilo Doctor's College, Iloilo City. Mentors retire After many years of dedicated service, five members of the faculty of the school retired from government service effective school year 2004-2005. First among them is Mrs. Concepcion Reguera whose retirement as Teacher II took effect on December 31, 2004. While in active service, she taught Filipino IV to the students of the school. Following Mrs. Reguera's retirement, Mrs. Dimpna Magallon, also a Filipino teacher exited from service on February 1,2005. She occupied the position of Teacher III and served the school for 41 years. Four months later after the second retirement was made , a male teacher also retired from the service. Mr. Victor S. Maroma who held the item of Master Teacher II rendered 36 long years of dedicated service to the CNCHS. He retired on May 1, 2005. While in active duty, he effected numerous projects and improvements in the school during his incumbency as the Officer-in-Charge of Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School. Another teacher in the Math department followed the line of retirees. After 38 years in the service, Ms. Geronima Prieto, relinquished her item as Instructor II upon effectivity of her retirement on June 16,2005. Her item was co-terminous. A student of the school emerged as first runner-,up in the National Science Super Quiz Bee (Division Level) held at Sta. Barbara National Comprehensive High School, Sta. Barbara, Iloilo on October 1, 2005. Andrew Jason J. Licera is a fourth year student of the school belonging to IV-Archimedes of the Special Science Class. A quiet and keen observer in the class, Licera spent most of his spare time reading science books and other related materials in the library. His taciturn attitude earned him the respect of his fellow classmates. `Patience and determination can make a person succeed in any endeavor. I never expected to win in the contest after giving a series of invalid answers. In the secondary level, Melandro Moneva, a fourth year student, was a gold medalist in Flower Pot Stand Making. Another first place was obtained by Ernie Rodd Ramos, a third year student of the school in Starter Motor Assembly. On September 30, 2005, Mrs. Nena Umadhay, a Values Education teacher, bade goodbye to fellow teachers, staff and students of the school when her retirement was enforced. Being free of school works, Mrs. Umadhay now enjoys managing her small business. The retirees of the school were honored during the despedida party held at Kabeer, Cabatuan, Iloilo on November 28. School conducts INSET To update teachers with information and skills for effective teaching-learning process, the school conducted a three-day In-Service Training (INSET) last October 24-28,2005. Again, on July 1, 2003 he was designated as Officer-in-Charge of CNCHS. He discharged the duties and responsibilities of the position until October 1, 2004. On July 1, 2005 he took his oath of office as the first municipal administrator before Mayor Ramon C. MAROMA The municipal administrator is the extension of the personality of the municipal mayor. He performs duties and responsibilities enumerated in the Local Government Code, and those required by the municipal mayor. The position of municipal administrator was created by Mayor Ramon C. Yee and was approved by the Sangguniang Bayan on December 28, 2004, including the budgetary appropriation of the position. Mayor Yee filled up the position on July 1, 2005.
