The completed Rural Health Center of Cabatuan. Dr. Rodelo Temporosa facilitated the acquisition of instructional materials for the school thru the donation of the Knights of Columbus of Charlotte, North Carolina, U.S.A. The donation was in the form of assorted books to be used as reference materials by students of the school. It was during the incumbency of Dr. Temporosa as the Grand Knight of Cabatuan Council 6048 of the Knights of Columbus that the acquisition of instructional materials from United States of America was made possible. The first batch of these books had already been received by the school in 1999. Other books during that time were still kept at the Philippine Embassy at Washington, D.C., U.S.A. These books, however, Aldwin Leslie M. Muyuela made it to the top when he competed in the Editorial Writing contest (secondary level) during the Third Congressional Press Conference held at Lambunao National High School on October 15, 2005. A dynamic and Arsatile student of the school, Mr. Muyuela is the editor-in-chief of 'The Glow', the school's publication in English. He is a fourth year student belonging to IV-Archimedes of the Special Science Class of the school. His editorial were damaged due to accidental flooding in the basement of the Philippine Embassy. Because of the damage, the Philippine Embassy claimed for insurance covering the books which amounted to $9;931.65. The amount was converted into Philippine peso and was used to procure equipment such as computers, LCD projector, VCD players, television sets, cassette players, textbooks, dictionaries and other equipment needed by the students, faculty and staff of the school. The laudable effort of Grand Knight Temporosa in facilitating donation for instructional materials 'for the school is a lasting gift to the students and faculty and staff of the school. possesses potentials in leadership. He is presently the president of the Supreme Student Government, and the corps commander of the CAT I Unit of the school. His verbal skills also gain for him the first place in the impromptu speech contest (secondary level) during the holding of the Municipal Meet on October 22, hosted by the school. The editor-in-chief of 'The Glow' is the second of three children of Mr. Eduardo Muyuela and the Four infrastructure projects in town were blessed and inaugurated on September 9. The blessing and inauguration rites which started at 10:00 a.m. were held as part of the town fiesta celebration on September 10. Blessed, and inaugurated were the Tomas Confesor Memorial Public Library, the Rural Health Center, the Hall of Justice, and the Satellite Office of the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC). The rites were witnessed by the barangay officials in town, and guests from DOTC and Taisei-Shimizu Joint Venture (TSJV) which is the contractor of the New Iloilo Airport Development Project. Rev. Fr. Norberto Tacadao, the parish priest, blessed all the four buildings. Cong. Arthur D. Defensor of the third district of Iloilo presided over the ribbon-cutting ceremony in every building. He was assisted by Mayor Ramon C. Yee, Judee Nicole D. Romero, and Pisces Joy C. Razon, Miss Cabatuan 2004 and Miss Cabatuan 2005, respectively. The blessing- ceremony started in Tomas Confesor Memorial Public Library (TCMPL) and proceeded to the Rural Health Center, to the Hall of Justice, and wound up in the DOTC Satellite Office. The RHU distributed deworming medicines and conducted free medical and dental consultation. The MAO distributed vegetable seeds and immunized dogs against rabies. Defensor assured his constituents in town that he will continue bringing more developmental projects to Cabatuan for its greater progress and development. Yee created the Task Force "Bantay Taytay". Named to compose the Task Force are representatives of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Land Transportation Office (LTO), the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Local Government Unit(LGU), the LTO-deputized Tanods, and the Barangay Tanods. Three teams of the Task Force were stationed in the three bridges. The teams function 24 hours daily. Using a portable weigh bridge, the DPWH representative takes charge brought to Cabatuan. In his speech, Cong. Defensor assured his constituents in town that he will continue bringing more developmental projects to Cabatuan for its greater progress and development. He promised to appropriate an amount from his pork of the weighing of cargo trucks to see to it that the load of cargo trucks does not exceed 20 tons which is the maximum load capacity of the three bridges. The LTO representative imposes sanctions on any violator of the 20-ton load limit of the bridges. The PNP personnel maintains peace and order as regulations are being implemented. Aside from imposing strictly the 20-ton limit regulation, the Task Force also enforces the 20-kilometer-per hour speed limit for all vehicles passing on the bridges, and the passing of cargo trucks on the bridges one at a time. Mayor Yee created the Task Force "Bantay Taytay" after the barrel funds for the construction of Liga Ng Mga Barangay building. He also promised the completion of the covered gym in the town plaza during his coronation speech delivered during the coronation program on September 10. DPWH confirmed through ocular inspection that the three bridges have structural defects. Aside from creating the Task Force, Mayor Yee facilitated the re­opening of a detour road at the side of Tabucan Bridge. Cargo trucks having a load of more than 20 tons are allowed to pass on the detour road. However, each cargo truck passing on the detour road has to pay P15.00 as road-right-of-way fee to every owner of a private lot for every trip that it makes.
