For Pastor Andrew Burao, change has once again woven its web in his life when he left the town of Sara and settled here in Cabatuan. Perhaps it is in line with the saying, "There's no place like home," that he was drawn to serve the town where he grew up. The third among seven siblings of Nazario and Juana Burao, he has spent most of his youth in this town. After graduating from Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School (CNCHS) in 1977, he then took up Bachelor of Science in Fisheries at the Iloilo State College of Fisheries (ISCOF) in Btac. Nuevo, Iloilo. However, he wasn't able to finish his course for God had a different calling mapped out for his life. He was in his 4th year at ISCOF when he decided to become a fisher of men instead of a fisher of fishes. After having resolved to follow God's calling, he entered Doane Baptist Seminary where he finished his Bachelor in Theology (ThB) in 1984. Various changes have taken place in the life of this minister of God since then. He became the pastor of Sara Fundamental Baptist Academy (SFBA) from 1990 to 2003. He was also the president of the Iloilo Private Schools Educators Association (1998-2000) and currently the chairman of both the Association of Fundamental Christian Schools (AFCS) and Fundamental Association of Baptist Schools and Educators of the Philippines (FABSEP). Aside from his active participation in the academe, he has also actively rendered his services to the associations of the fundamentalist sect to where he belongs. He was the former president of Panay-Guimaras Pastor's and Workers' Fellowship (1992-1996) and at present, the secretary of the Western Visayas Fellowship of Fundamental Baptist Churches (WVFFBC). After finishing his ThB degree in 1984, he got married two years later to Nora Aguaras with whom he had two children: Jahleel-Ann and Jehruel John. The couple served the Lord together for eight years until Nora was taken away by God on September 24, 1994. Despite his great loss, he still continued serving God. After six years of being both a father and a mother, he married Lea Mailla on April 17, 2000. An addition of one daughter - Jehzeel Lean - was made to the household of Pastor Burao. At the age of 44, Pastor Burao has had the full brunt of the first two inevitable phenomena in life: change and death. Perhaps the only inescapable fact of life that he has evaded is paying taxes (men of God aren't mandated by law to pay their annual dues). He will be perpetually unable to pay taxes for he will remain a servant of God until he himself will experience the end of his, productive life. - by: Jehruel John Burao (11-1) The local PNP Station is proud to have a competent and' dedicated Chief of Police - P/S INSP AGUSTIN F.
